Workload fit
Start with the actual workload: rendering, inference, general cloud compute, batch processing, or interactive applications. A network designed for one workload may not be a substitute for another.
Provider obligations
Compare hardware compatibility, availability, networking, monitoring, software setup, and support. A marketplace may shift operational work to the provider rather than remove it.
Utilization evidence
Look for documented customers, workloads, capacity usage, and service requirements. Operator count and token activity are not proof of recurring demand.
Cost model
Include hardware depreciation, electricity, bandwidth, downtime, maintenance, and the value of technical time. Compare total cost against a conventional cloud alternative for the same workload.
Failure mode
Ask what happens when a provider goes offline, a workload fails, demand weakens, or protocol rules change. A resilient decision has a fallback path.
